Clonmel Celtic will take a slender lead into the 2nd leg of this Youth Shield tie after a 2-1 win against Cashel Town yesterday. Cillian O’Brien put Celtic ahead after 10 minutes but Cashel responded well and had the better of the first half that failed to produce any more goals. They were stunned as were a lot of the supporters at the start of the second half when straight from kick off Jack Alyward’s audacious effort sailed over a stranded Cashel keeper to put Celtic 2-0. Cashel were rocked a little by this setback but finished the game strongly and with 3 minutes remaining the ball fell to Callum Butler and his brilliant overhead kick found the net. Celtic know despite having a goal lead they will need a big improvement in the second leg as Cashel looked the better side for much of this game.
