Clonmel Celtic's gave themselves a mountain to climb when they conceded two early goals away to St Michaels in yesterday's league clash in Tipperary. The home side added two more to lead 4-0 at the break. I suppose it's a small consolation that things didn't get too much worse in the second half as St Michaels scored just once more to run out 5-0 winners. It was Celtic's first defeat of the season but demonstrated they have still some distance to go before they can see themselves challenging for honours again.
The B team also lost for the first time this season as they were knocked out of the Munster Shield competition with an extra time 4-1 defeat to Cahir Park B. Davy Garrett was on the mark for Celtic in a game where the home side reversed the scoreline from last month's league encounter.
Clonmel Celtic Youths can be a little be happier with their result this weekend after a 2-2 draw away to Cashel Town sees them remain unbeaten in the Youth Premier League. Rhys Lonergan and Jack Aylward were Celtic's scorers.
