Clonmel Celtic U16s drew 3-3 with Clonmel Town in an exciting contest in Ferryhouse on Friday night. Celtic made the worst possible start to their debut in the U16 Premier when they conceeded from a free kick in the first minute. Despite this set back Celtic settled and took the game to Town with Jamie Brunnock unlucky not to level when his shot hit the post. However Celtic didn't have to wait too long for the equaliser when Jack Aylward fired home a free kick on 12 minutes. It got better for Celtic on 25 minutes when an inswinging corner was headed to his own net by a Town defender. Celtic came close to extending their lead after the break when Jack Aylward was just off target when played through. However the same player made sure moments later when he broke through again and this time finished to make it 3-1. Celtic nearly put the game to bed but were denied by the post. After putting in a huge effort on a heavy pitch Celtic tired late on but will be disappointed to conceed to late goals by high balls into the box that weren't defended. Nonetheless a decent start from Celtic to their league season.
It was a tough debut for our Under 12s in the Premier League (still unclear how they ended up in this division) as they went down 6-0 to Cahir last Wednesday while the U12B were beaten 2-0 by the same opposition on Saturday.
