Clonmel Celtic tasted defeat for the first time in 2023 when they went down to a 1-0 defeat to relegation threatened Bansha Celtic yesterday. A scrappy Liam Murphy goal on 14 minutes proved to be the all important goal. Celtic can't be faulted for lack of effort but it just didn't happen for them in the final third. After going behind Celtic dominated proceedings and Cian O'Sullivan was denied by a great save by the home keeper mid way through the first half. Another fine effort from Darren Sweeney had the keeper beaten but flashed by the wrong side of the post. Celtic upped the ante in the second half but despite their dominance they just couldn't find an equaliser with Darren Sweeney, Philly Drohan, Evan Maguire and Simon Ahearne all coming close. It was a huge result for the home side who put in a great defensive display to revitalise their survival bid.
