Clonmel Celtic U13s title hopes faded as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Cashel Town on Saturday at Celtic Park. Their second 2-2 draw in a row means that their title aspirations have faded and they now need under teams to do them a favour. One unfortunate aspect of summer soccer is that it is very hard to field your strongest team on a consistent basis as you are invariably missing players due to holidays and clashes with other sports. It's obviously a factor for a lot of teams but especially for Celtic last Saturday as they were missing a number of key players. The team can't be faulted though as they gave their all and Rocco Cuddy had them ahead early on. However Cashel fought back to lead 2-1 at the break. Fred French Davis fired home an equaliser from a free kick early in the second half and although Celtic had plenty of time to find a winner they just didn't do enough with the ball in the final third. Indeed the visitors nearly snatched all three points late on with a shot that struck the crossbar.
Meanwhile the Under 15s finished their league campaign with a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Shanbally Utd last Friday night.
