An Andrew Browne goal five minutes before the break was enough to see Clonmel Celtic through to the semi finals of the Paddy Purtill Cup. Browne rose highest to head home a corner and Celtic were good value for the win. Indeed on another day Celtic may have been punished for wasting some good chances to kill of the game in the second half. Darren Sweeney, Sean O'Hara, Sean Hawkins and Cian O'Sullivan all came close in the second period with Alex Greene who looked lively when introduced coming closest with a fine shot that hit the post. Tipperary Town battled hard throughout but never carried any real threat and in end it was a comfortable 1-0 for the home side if there is such a thing.
Unfortunately the B team were not unable to join them in the semi finals as they went down 4-0 away to Peake Villa B yesterday.
