Bansha Celtic scored a late winner to advance to next round of the Tipperary Cup with a 2-1 win against Clonmel Celtic in Clonmel on Saturday. Celtic went ahead on 8 minutes with a neat finish from Shane Bennett after good work from Alex Greene. It remained 1-0 at the break after a largely forgettable first half. Things didn’t get much better in the second period though Niall Halpin livened things up a little on 50 minutes with a stunning strike that brought Bansha level. Truth be told it was a scrappy game low in quality and Adam Hennessy spared us extra time when he popped up at the back post on 88 minutes and slotted home to send Bansha through.
It was a tough afternoon for the Under 14s who went down heavily to Evergeen of Kilkenny in the National Cup U15.
