A David Joyce (pictured/file) header ten minutes from time completed a Clonmel Celtic comeback as they defeated Old Bridge 2-1 for a vital three points this morning. Celtic trailed 1-0 at the break before a debut goal from Andrew Browne brought Celtic level midway through the second half. David Joyce's crucial intervention late on sealed the points for Celtic. (See match reports for further details).
Meanwhile Clonmel Celtic Youths are going through a bit of a sticky patch at the moment after a bright start to their season. Yesterday they went down to a 2-1 defeat to Cahir though you can fault the efforts of the boys on the day. They had a good first half and unfortunate og had them 1-0 down at the break. Based on their first half efforts they had every reason to be optimistic about getting back into the game in the second half. However they shot themselves in the foot just five minutes into the second half when a poor defensive clearance fell to Tom Delaney and he fired low to the corner to put the visitors 2-0 up. In fairness to Celtic they kept battling away and Michael O'Reilly saw his header hit the post. Senan Butler impressed when he came on with some strong purposeful runs and he had an effort that was just off target. Alex Greene also came close for Celtic before Paddy Ormonde halved the deficit on 69 minutes from a free kick. Cahir continued to look dangerous themselves and the woodwork denied them a third. Alex Greene came close for Celtic late on but try as the might they couldn't find an equaliser.
