It was a mixed day for Clonmel Celtic as both our Under 15s and Under 13s opened their season with contrasting fortunes. The Under 13s went down to a heavy home defeat to Clonmel Town. This despite a bright start when Jayden Lynch scored for Celtic after 3 minutes and both Jamie Brunnock and Ben Hoare came close to doubling the leading within 5 minutes. However some sloppy defending midway through the first half was punished with two quick fire Town goals that put them ahead. This fired life into Town and they scored twice again before the break to leave Celtic reeling. Town were completely on top in the second half as Celtic basically fell apart and the visitors scored three more times for an emphatic 7-1 win. A day to forget for Celtic and one they need to quickly get out of the system.
It was better news for the Under 15s with a sweetly struck effort from Max Ryan away to Cashel enough to give Celtic the three points. Cillian O'Brien captained for the first time and he can be well pleased with the 1-0 win as can Rhys Lonergan with a clean sheet on his debut in goal.
