If Clonmel Celtic are to avoid dropping out of the Premier League for the first time they will require a huge turnout both in performances and results in the second half of the season. Celtic reached the half way point in their league campaign today going down to a very big defeat to Bansha Celtic. Celtic trailed 2-0 at the break but a second half collapse by the home side saw Bansha hit another 6 to run out 8-0 winners.
Celtic B advanced to the second round of the Tipperary cup today after a 4-3 win over Kilmanahan Utd. After a completely dominant opening half hour for Celtic the breakthrough finally came on 32 mins through live wire Dean McLaughlin who fired home a brilliant finish after being set up by a Sean Cronin through ball. All Celtics hard work tho was undone less than a minute later though when Connie Power equalized for Kilmanahan against the run of play. On 39 mins a Kyle Kennedy corner was turned home by Owen Lonergan to put Celtic back in front at half time. Celtic came roaring out of the blocks in the second half and were 3-1 on 48 mins when Mikey Nugents scored following a one two with Damon Gregory. After this the visitors threw caution to the wind and the game became a real cup tie when a Darren Guiry strike breathed life back into the Division 2 side's challenge. Kilmanahan had a very good 10 min spell and equalized on the 83rd min through Darren Guiry. Celtic's fighting spirit came through though and prolific striker Shane butler done what all good strikers do and made sure his shot was on target in the 86th and was rewarded with the winning goal in the cup for the second week running.
It was a disappointing end to the season for the U13s who lost 2-0 to Clonmel Town in the U13 Tipperary Cup.
