Both teams went into this early season top of the table clash with 100% records so something had to give. The first half played out just like this with both teams sparring really and nothing to separate the sides. Celtic lost Mikey Nugent to a nasty looking head injury as the first half finished scoreless. Celtic started the second half on the front foot as they went in search of the opener. The hit the front on 52 minutes when Tucker Kennedy did well to control a Sean Cronin centre and he fired to the net to give the home side the lead. Celtic keeper Gavin Sheehan’s flawless kicking was a feature of the second half and on 65 mins his pinpoint kick found Shane Mullen who nodded on brilliantly to Shane Butler who was taken down when bearing down on goal for a clear penalty. Ever reliable captain Kyle Kennedy stood up and confidently gave the keeper no chance. The goal of the game came on the 75min when hard working Eoin Kearney wouldn’t give up on a ball and pulled it across to Jonathan Boyle who’s first touch sat it up for a half volley that he rifled into the roof of the net. A big 3 points against a good side in St.Nicholas for Celtic as they continue their good start to the season.
