Clonmel Celtic travelled 90kms to play Knigh Utd FC last night. We started off slowly and found ourselves 1 nil down after 5 mins. Sarah Ryan grabbed an equaliser 10 mins later. Paige Kirwan was pushed to ground in the box and we were awarded a penalty which Sarah Ryan cooly finished into bottom right hand corner to give us a 2-1 lead. Just before the half, Paige Kirwan scored after getting on the end of a great cross from Jade Kiely to give us a 3-1 lead at half time. The weather and pitch conditions were very poor. We missed a few chances in 2nd half and a free kick just outside the box was scored by Knigh Utd to pull our lead back to 1 goal. Megan Shanahan scored our 4th goal after a great ball through by Sarah Ryan. This finished the game off and a 4-2 win on final whistle.
A special mention for Paige Kirwan who I believe created a bit of club history when she netted last night. Paige joined Clonmel Celtic Academy in 2010 and is the first player from the Academy to score at senior level. Well done Paige.
