We are pleased to report that work on laying our new All Weather Pitch began on Wednesday. Following a tender process SIS Pitches were selected to replace our current All Weather Pitch that is now 12 years old and is showing signs of wear and tear. SIS Pitches Ireland work with the biggest names in sport, including leading sports clubs and institutions. They are based here in Ireland, and have sister-companies around the world including the UK, the Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East and Angola. They have over 25 years of experience in the Irish sports-pitch market and have supplied pitches to football clubs, sports clubs, schools or universities.
So what's involved in laying a new pitch? Its quite similar to laying a new carpet really. The first stage is to remove the exisiting pitch. Once this is done they then need to repair the base by dealing with the humps and hollows and use gravel to ensure the base becomes perfectly level. Once this is done the new pitch is laid and marked out with lines and boxes as specified. The last stage of the process is the infill of sand and rubber which is brushed into the new carpet. The whole process will take about two to three weeks.
We would once again like to acknowledge the grant assistance the club has received from the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism and Tipperary County Council and everyone who assisted with club fundraisers organised over the last couple of years to help raise funds for the project.
