Is Clonmel Town's good run in the FAI Junior Cup disguising the true state of Junior soccer in the town today? Three Clonmel clubs kicked off the season in the TSDL Premier League. One, Old Bridge were relegated without a point. Yesterday the other two, Town and Celtic, were invloved in a meaningless mid table clash bereft of any quality. You would hope a clash like this should have relevance at the top of the table rather than being a dead rubber clash in February. A lot of work, reflection and revitalisation for all Clonmel clubs in the close season, none more so than Celtic, or we could have even gloomier times ahead. As for the game Ian Clery scored a late winner for the visitors after an Eddie Doyle free kick had cancelled out an earlier Ryan Lambe set piece goal as Town triumped 2-1.
