Celtic edge it
An early goal from Niall Prendergast (pic/file) is all that separated Clonmel Celtic and Tipperary Town in Round 1 of the Tipperary Cup today. Unlike the league encounter between the sides that Celtic won relatively comfortably last week, Celtic had to battle right until the end as the visitors remained a threat right to the finish. Both sides were guilty of some sloppy finishing. Celtic had the opportunity to make the game a bit more comfortable for themselves but missed a penalty on 70 minutes. They also missed some good opportunities late on that kept Tipperary Town in the tie but their finishing also let them down on occasions. It was by no means comfortable but Celtic did just about enough to progress.
