A double from Julian Kertin helped Clonmel Celtic U14s to a 4-2 derby win against Clonmel Town on Saturday morning. Celtic were slow out of the blocks and fell behind early on. However goals from Julian Kerton and Alex Greene had Celtic 2-1 up at the break. Celtic were well on top in the second half playing in Town's half of the pitch but missed some chances to pull clear. As often happens it looked as if Celtic were going to be punished for those missed opportunities when Town broke to equalise. However within 3 minutes Celtic were ahead again when Julian Kerton scored from close range following a corner and Celtic wrapped up the points with a neat finish from Michael O'Connell. A fine performance from Celtic particularly in the second half when they got on top. The U12s had also won their first two league games but they were brought crashing down to earth when they went down to a 7-2 defeat to a strong Mullinahone team. Jamal Yousif and Jack Kealy scored for Celtic and though they played well at time they were punished for some poor defending.
