The last year has been a bit of a rollercoaster of awards for Clonmel Celtic captain David Joyce. First up his club presented him with an award to mark his international debut with the Republic of Ireland amateur team in 2017. Last June the local league TSDL made a presentation to him at their AGM. More recently he was honored with a Cidona Sports Award by the Tipperary Panel at a function in the Clonmel Park Hotel that marked the achievements of our County sports stars in 2017. However the announcement by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) at lunchtime today tops them all. We are delighted to announce that David Joyce is one of three nominees for the FAI Junior Player of the Year. The Award winners will be announced at the prestigious FAI National Award ceremony that will take place at the RTE Studios on Sunday 18th March and highlights of the event will be broadcast on RTE television. Whether David actually picks up the award is immaterial as to be nominated in the first instance is a stunning achievement. Everyone at Clonmel Celtic would like to congratulate David (Joycey) and we hope he has a great night rubbing shoulders with the elite of Irish soccer.
