Clonmel Celtic Under 12s recorded an impressive 3-0 win against Evergreen of Kilkenny to advance to Round 4 of the SFAI Cup. It was evident early on that Celtic had prepared well for this match as they took the game to Evergreen from the start. With just five minutes on the clock a clever finish from Mikey Maguire had Celtic 1-0 up. Evergreen tried to respond but the Celtic defence stood rock solid. Celtic always looked dangerous when they came forward with purposeful runs but the game was still in the balance with Celtic 1-0 up at the break. Celtic got the all important second ten minutes into the second half. A good run down the right from Dominik Mendel brought him to the end line and his centre was sweetly caressed to the net by Jack Liot. Celtic were well on top at this stage and a fine strike by the impressive Dominik Mendel made it 3-0 and the game safe for Celtic. In fairness to a young Evergreen side they never threw in the towel but some solid defending, a fine save from Peter Boland and the woodwork denied them what would have been a consolation.
